Simon vs The Homo Sapiens Agenda

Author: Becky Albertalli

Genre: Romance

Rating: 4/5

This recent book brought to life by movie is a story reflecting a very real and current conflict for several people all over the world. Simon is a 16 year old high school boy who has not come out yet, however, his sexuality is being used as a weapon against him by Martin, who is too afraid to go after a girl himself. Martin causes quite the journey for Simon which *spoiler* doesn't end in an awful place.

Simon is an unbelievably real teenage boy who is funny, does stupid things, and sometimes messes up just like the rest of us. His realness and high school problems make it so easy for several people, apart of the LGBTQ+ community or not, to relate too. Even the rest of the characters, from Nora to Nick, are relatable and seem like they could show up in your high school at any time.

The incredibly interesting and very important part of this novel is Blue, Simon's email companion. The mystery of this character keeps you holding on, and guessing it's anyone who seems to have anything in common with what you know from Blue's emails which are also so crucial to the novel that you actually get to read the interactions between Simon and Blue.

Becky Albertalli does an amazing job at keeping the reader intrigued and captivated, I finished this book within a few hours! I cannot wait to read more of her work!
